Sugar Beets Have Been Raised For Over A Hundred Years
Northern Colorado and Larimer County are by ecological standards a desert. Water and irrigation of the arid plains have played a key role in allowing agriculture and industry to exist. Sugar beets have been the main cash crop of Northern Colorado. For over 100 years, the Bee Farm grew sugar beets, "white gold".

The Boxelder Creek runs along the north east corner of the Bee Farm. During heavy rains it has historically overflowed its banks causing damage to the fields and crops. Arleigh Bee shares some of his experiences during the floods at the irrigation exhibit.
