The snow and rain have greened things up and the museum is open and ready for your visit. Muffins and Bisquit (the lambs) are doing fine, and our new Cocoa (a little Jersey heifer) is learning to be lead around. We have six Molten Java chickens along with the four Buff Orpington chicks. Come check them out.
We are getting a wonderful Spring snow storm. It has been very dry, so the moisture is very welcome. It is slowing down the process of getting things cleaned up and ready to open, but still should be ready for the two teacher open houses April 25 and 27. The spring newsletter is ready to mail and the Special Events are being planned.
We got four baby chicks last week and the turkeys should arrive tomorrow. They will join the baby calf that is about a month old.
We are working with an intern from Colorado State University this winter. One project is helping with some grant writing for the restroom funding. She is also writing a children's tour guide and working on an agricultural history time line.
It has been several weeks since the Vintage Base Ball Game. It was a fun day with the Buzzards winning 22 to 14. The Northern Colorado Model A Club brought some of their cars and even gave rides. Thank you to all that took part and made it a good day.
We had hard frost last weekend so the garden is about done, but there is still time to come visit before the end of the month.
We are getting the museum closed down for the winter. Some of the animals have been sold, but we will get new ones in the spring. Our fundraising letter is about ready to go out and we are working on other winter projects. Thank you to all the volunteers who gave their time to make the summer a success.
Arleigh Bee bought a Model T Ford in 1924. In 1964 it was given to his grandson, and now a great granddaughter owns it. It has been in McLean,VA but recently it was returned to Fort Collins and will be on display at the museum.
It was a hot day for Pioneer Living Day, but we still had 67 visitors come and enjoy the activities.
We need to catch up on the happenings at the farm. The fundraising event 'Barn Raising' went well in spite of a cool day. To date we have raised about $2600, which is a good start for the restroom fund. Everyone enjoyed the music, booths, and food. We would like to thank everyone who donated items for the auction and all of our volunteers that helped mak
We have received over 70 items for our auction. There are many nice gift cards and a good variety of things. One item is a new Mig/Flux Core Wire Welder so if you are interested in it please come and bid and enjoy the day of activities.
We bought a ewe with two baby lambs and another Oreo pig. They are all getting used to their new home and doing well. The 3 baby turkeys arrived last week and we also have a very friendly adult turkey.
Come and share the fun.
